Personal Experience
My name is Melody Busey, and I founded this firm for one reason: to provide exceptional legal representation to the community that raised me. As a native of Charlotte with proud Bolivian and Puerto Rican roots, I understand the diverse fabric of our city and the unique challenges its people face. My journey in law has always been driven by a personal passion. Years ago, I had the profound honor of guiding my own father through the naturalization process, a milestone that cemented my commitment to this work. I know firsthand that behind every case file is a human story, a family's hope, and a future on the line. That understanding has guided me through every step of my career. I pursued my law degree in San Diego, where I gained invaluable insight working directly for a Federal Judge and for Immigration Judges.
After law school, I began my career in Charleston, honing my skills as a litigator. It was there that I took on one of the toughest fights of my career. I argued and won a precedent-setting case, Cabrera v. Garland, before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. This landmark victory not only changed my client's life but now helps shape immigration law for countless others. This high-level federal experience is matched by my dedicated work on the ground. I have successfully won numerous difficult cases, including: asylum claims for those fleeing persecution, cancellation of removal cases, and detained bond hearings. Now, I have come home to Charlotte to open a new kind of law firm—one that combines a deep love for this community with a proven record of success at the highest levels. My practice is expanding to include Criminal Defense and Family Law because I know these issues are deeply intertwined. Your fight is my fight. Let's stand together.
